We want Australia to be the best place to be a child and the best place to raise a child but right now we are a long way from achieving this. In fact, a 2020 report from UNICEF[8] shows that compared to other OECD countries, Australia ranks in the bottom 20 per cent for child wellbeing outcomes.
At a macro level there is a lack of vision for Australian children. We don’t have aspirational goals for our children or consistent ways to measure progress. We need a whole of government commitment to do better for the children of today and for future generations.
Far too many children are falling through the cracks. There are solutions and we can do better.
All 4.7 million of Australia's children are valuable and deserve the best start to life.
