Anti-Poverty Week

Unless we solve child poverty how will we solve poverty for everyone? #

For over 20 years, Anti-Poverty Week has been raising awareness and driving collective action to tackle poverty across Australia. The week is timed to coincide with the United Nations Day for the Eradication of Poverty on 17th October, underscoring the global commitment to ending poverty and the role we can all play in this effort.

In 2024, Anti-Poverty Week will run from Sunday, 13th October to Saturday, 19th October. This week of action is an opportunity for communities, organisations, and individuals to come together to shine a spotlight on the realities of poverty and to find practical solutions to reduce and ultimately end it.

Poverty remains a persistent issue in Australia, affecting the lives of millions, especially children, families, and vulnerable populations. Anti-Poverty Week exists to raise awareness about these challenges and encourage Australians to take action at every level—whether through advocacy, education, or community support.

The aim is simple: to help Australians understand the causes and effects of poverty and to work collectively on solutions that create real change. By focusing on education, health, housing, and financial security, Anti-Poverty Week encourages people to advocate for policies and actions that can reduce the devastating impact of poverty.

Anti-Poverty Week 2024 will run from Sunday 13 October to Saturday 19 October.
