Young and Wise Report

February 24, 2025 in Resources, Youth Spotlights

At the Valuing Children Initiative, we believe that children and young people deserve to be heard, valued, and prioritised in decision-making. That’s why we’re excited to share Young & Wise, a new report by the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY), which amplifies the voices of over 10,000 children and young people across Australia.

Based on insights gathered over five years and 117 reports, Young & Wise provides a clear message: young Australians want to be included in the decisions that shape their lives. They’ve shared their thoughts on education, mental health, climate action, and social connection—issues that directly impact their well-being and future.

The report highlights the need for strong leadership and policy changes that put children and young people first. It also introduces the Young & Wise advisory group, a growing initiative that will provide direct advice to ARACY and influence government policies affecting young Australians.

Key themes from the report include:
✔️ The importance of mental health support and access to services
✔️ The need for education systems that prepare them for the future
✔️ Concerns about climate change and the world they will inherit
✔️ A call for stronger community connections and belonging

As we work towards a future where every child is valued, Young & Wise serves as a powerful reminder that children and young people must have a seat at the table

Their voices matter, and their insights must drive action at all levels of society.
